Hello and Goodbye
Spreading Good News, Fall 2016
Bill Overby, Director of Development
11/8/2016 -

Allen Schuyler   In the spring issue of Spreading Good News, we shared with you that David Webb was retiring at the end of February 2016 as Western Area Manager for Trust and Endowment Development. He is now enjoying retirement and reports are that he is busier than ever doing all kinds of ministry work and spending time with family.

We are pleased to announce that we have hired a new Western Area Manager, but there will be a new twist. This position will be split between the NC Baptist Foundation and NC Baptist Financial Services, with a second title of Associate Managing Director. Give a warm welcome to Rev. Dr. D. Allen Schuyler of Charlotte.

Allen has been senior pastor at Candlewyck Baptist Church in Charlotte since 1995 and previously served at FBC in Petersburg, VA; Bogue Banks Baptist Church in Atlantic Beach; FBC of Carthage and Buies Creek FBC. Allen has served in various leadership capacities at both the state and association levels in NC and VA. He received his Doctorate of Ministry and Master of Divinity at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Religion at Campbell University.

We look forward to telling you more about Allen, his wife Becky and the rest of the family in the next edition of our newsletter. Allen will work out of his home in Charlotte and will serve in the western area of the state as the Western Area Manager for development. For NC Baptist Financial Services, our church loan ministry, he will assist Managing Director Russell Jones, throughout the state.

Carol and Glenn Starling

While we say hello to Allen, we will need to say a tearful goodbye to Carol Starling, the Foundation's Administrative Assistant for Development for the last ten years. While her duties involve her in many areas of Foundation ministry, Carol has been my right hand person assisting in preparing our many planned giving documents, and in the detailed planning of our Noel Inspirational Retreat, the NC Baptist Development Officers Conference, and our Baptist Heritage Event. She is very involved in preparing this newsletter and her creativity has been invaluable in creating and publishing all our brochures and promotional materials. In addition, she and others on the staff work together to administer our many trusts and endowments. These all require a lot of upfront work to get processed and Carol has been a wonderful team player.

While we will miss Carol, we want the very best for her as she begins a time of well-deserved retirement. There is no way she will be replaced, but we will try our best to find someone to fill those shoes. Thank you, Carol, for your dedication to your ministry here at the NC Baptist Foundation!

So, we say hello to Allen and we bid a fond farewell to Carol, knowing that the footprints that remain have made a difference.
