From my early days of growing up on a cotton farm in rural Cleveland County, I have enjoyed roaming the foothills and mountains of Western North Carolina. What a joy it is today to be able to travel the roads of western North Carolina leading to the homes and churches of some of the finest Christian people in the world. An added bonus is that the foundation pays me as the Western Area Manager to help individuals and churches help themselves and do things for the cause of Christ that they otherwise might not have known they could do.
Since July 1, 2003, my wife Nancy and I have been blessed to be part of the North Carolina Baptist Foundation family. At the Foundation, we are deeply committed to each other and to the people we serve. Like a real family we pray together, laugh together, grieve together and hurt for each other at times. We enjoy hearing about each other’s children and grandchildren.
Nancy and I are blessed to have five children between us. We also have five grandchildren, and we look forward to more in the future. The three sons and two daughters that make up our family range in ages from 26-34. Our grandchildren of course are the most special in the world, as every grandparent willingly proclaims; so special in fact that we anticipate moving back to Boiling Springs in the near future so we will be right in the center of where they live.
It is so good to know that your employer and fellow workers are interested in your life outside of work. A passion that Nancy and I both enjoy is our mission work in Nicaragua. Our mission work takes us to Nicaragua two or three weeks a year. We love the people of Nicaragua and feel God has called us to invest part of our lives in the people and churches there. Nancy’s primary interest lies in our "Educate a Child" program. My passion is for the 162 pastors, and the churches they serve, enrolled in our United Christian Missions School of Pastoral Leadership. If you would like to see how God is leading this ministry you can find us on the web at www.unitedchristianmissions.org.
My underlying goal in life is to express my thanks to God for His grace by "joining Him where He is at work, doing the things He would have me do, in the ways He would have me do them and in the places He would have me be". Maybe He will lead me to your door.
