2023 will be a time of transition for The North Carolina Baptist Foundation, Inc. as its long time President, Dr. M. Clay Warf, has announced he will retire as of December 31, 2023. By that time, he will have served over 25 years as the Foundation’s president, and only the fourth president in the Foundation’s 102-year history.
The Foundation has flourished under Clay’s leadership. Assets have grown from $70 million to $165 million. Distributions to charities during his tenure have been over $148 million. The staff has also grown under Clay’s leadership. Area managers, who provide NC Baptists a regional resource, were added to the central and eastern parts of the state, greatly enhancing the Foundation’s visibility across the state. And, in 2009, the staff grew even more when the Foundation’s newest ministry of the Foundation, North Carolina Baptist Financial Services, was born. This ministry has made over 200 loans providing more than $118 million in resources for Kingdom growth.
Clay plans to remain in Apex and enjoy traveling and spending more time with his wife, Sherry, and their three children and seven grandchildren.
